Low Friction BUSHINGSThe essence of Dimension Bond is to prevent metal-to-metal contact. This is exactly what any inserted bushings are meant to provide. Since the 1950s, the chemistry of the low friction bushing with a bronze/PTFE layer has been commonly used. Dimension Bond technology provides accuracy and parallelism and concentricity unavailable with inserted low friction bushings. Dimension Bond can duplicate the bronze/PTFE overlay materials that have been standard into the low friction bushing. These materials have not improved nor have the capabilities of improving them existed because the fundamental nature in which the low friction or split-ring low friction bushing is created. Dimension Bond can offer several grades of bronze and the very same PTFE-based compounds as are found in off-the-shelf Dry Unlubricated Bushings to this day. As a grade with proven higher performance well beyond the conventional low friction bushing material, Dimension Bond has optimized the bronze alloy and combined that with contemporary engineering plastic with nano-composite additives in the overcoat to produce a bearing surface that is bonded permanently to the parent metal. This has the added advantage of vastly improved tribological capabilities of the polymer (ptfe) layer commonly found in low friction bushings. This results in extended wear life for the DB processed component in side-by-side OE testing. Low friction bushings cannot provide the thickness range of bronze that Dimension Bond can selectively provide. Related Topics |
