PTFE Wear Bands vs. DB L-9 Nano-Composite Coating

Our Unique Solution
Dimension Bond's permanently bonded piston, rigid, band system maintains the precision manufacturing of the piston, of the pressure tube ID and of the overall suspension unit. Since the piston is considered the heart of the suspension unit why compromise using a flexible and inaccurate plastic band?
Advantages
Close tolerance control affords the closest fit, calibrated leakage around the piston, eliminating potential leak paths and/or uncontrolled leaks due to normal flexible bands distorting and wearing.
The ability to apply the same technology across all types and sizes of pistons affords economies not available with other conventional band methodologies.
The quality of the material applied eliminates fragment contamination - oil tests following one million cycle bench testing have yielded near original oil quality. This is not typical on units employing a conventional band system.
100% inspection and close tolerance permits part-to-part and unit-to-unit control of damping forces.
No machining cost eliminates the
cost to groove the OD of the
piston to retain the band.
The Piston Process
100% Laser Inspection of the OD ensures the desired finished dimension is obtained after process curing the band material.
100% Laser Inspection of the as-received OD ensures the correct amount of material is applied, thus yielding the finished dimension desired.
Apply Permanently Bonded 100% pass-thru gauging of each finished piston to assure the piston meets Form-Fit and Functional requirements prior to packaging. Band material via computer controlled metering.

Divider Pistons
Divider Pistons have the same requirements of precision fit and tolerance plus need low friction for the O ring normally fitted.
Dimension Bond L9 bonded bearing surface provides divider pistons with precise tolerances and roundness, along with ultra low friction, outwearing aluminum hard anodizing. This dimensional control prevents tilting of the divider piston in the bore.
The parallel surface of the divider piston and the tube are preserved because the DB L9 bonded bearing surface exhibits no wear and maintains the close tolerance for the typical 1.25mm cycle test endurance test.
Both sintered and solid metal can be DB L9 processed. For sintered metal, a secondary process that seals the porosity is used. This impregnation process provides 100% nitrogen sealing between the two chambers divided by the piston.
